Kite and Family Fun Day a Great Success!

We were delighted at the wonderful turnout at our recent Kite and Family Fun Day at Heron Park in Avondale. We estimate that over 800 people made the most of the opportunity to enjoy some family ‘time out’, fun activities, entertainment and treats.

The event began with an energetic Zumba display and it was great to see participants of all ages, shapes and sizes!  A full programme followed: there was some eager kite making & flying and the running, sack and 3 legged races, organised by the Crackerjack Kids team and their Sports Ambassadors were keenly contested.

Point Chevalier School’s Kapa Haka performance attracted a very appreciative audience and the egg throwing competition was the source of much hilarity!  Perennial favourites - Face painting, Bouncy Castle, Raffles, Colouring Competitions and the Sausage Sizzle – were well supported and many youngsters tried a Coconut Shy for the first time!  Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, there was an extensive selection of great prizes & ‘give aways’, which ensured the day ended with even larger smiles on the already beaming faces!

We were delighted to raise funds on the day to assist Quantum Sports in the expansion of their Crackerjack Kids programme in local schools.

Community Spirit Kite & Family Fun Day was made possible with donations and generous support from the many volunteers, contributors and sponsors. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the following: The Goodwin Realty Group, TelstraClear, Genesis Energy, Dulux, Loan Market, MOTAT, ASB Avondale and their team of volunteers, Avondale Plunket ,  Burger King, Clip ‘N Climb, College Hill Productions, Holdsons,  Kiteworks,  Kiteman, Tim Obern , Pak n Save, Pt Chevalier School Kapa Haka group, Quantum Sport & their Sports  Ambassadors ( Justine Lavea, Kirstie James and Orinoco Faamausili Banse Prince);  Rosebank Business Association, Show Light and Power, Smiles Inflatables,  Variety Club, Mark Te Whare,  Zvonko Djuric ( and
