Family Carnival at Potters Park

An estimated 1000 people, made the most of the glorious autumn weather on Sunday 3rd April to enjoy our Family Carnival at Potters Park.

The success of the event can be measured largely by the smiles that beamed from ‘ear to ear’ on our local children, as they participated in all aspects of the day … whether it was the art and craft activities, sporting activities, enjoying Walnut the Clown’s show, face painting, magnetic fishing, pin the tail, bouncy castle or checking out the display of MOTAT vehicles. The event kicked off with a Zumba demonstration that attracted enthusiastic participation from all age groups, and certainly set the tone for an afternoon packed with energy!

The Crackerjack Kids team and their Sports’ Ambassadors, led by Eroni Clarke, enabled our local children to get up close and personal with a number of sports stars including  Alby Mathewson, Peter Saili and Charlie Faumuina  from the Blues and Shem Tatupu and Onosa'i Auva'a – no doubt creating many wonderful memories.

Significant funds were raised in aid of Quantum Sports ( to assist in the expansion of their Crackerjack Kids programme in local schools) and, our raffle in aid of Christchurch Earthquake Appeal. It was also great to see our local Mt Eden Plunket group taking full advantage of the crowds hunger for a good old fashioned sausage sizzle, and early indications from mums and dads ‘manning the BBQ’ is that they managed a great fundraising result.

The Community Spirit Family Carnival was made possible with donations and generous support from many volunteers, sponsors & businesses and organisations.

We extend our sincere thanks to the volunteers from ASB, Auckland Girls Grammar, Crackerjack Kids and Goodwin Realty, as well as Hayden Broadbelt (Ray White auctioneer) and photographer Zvonko (, who gave of their time and really embraced the opportunity to help.

Likewise, we are extremely appreciative of and acknowledge the contributions made by: The Goodwin Realty Group, TelstraClear, Genesis Energy, Dulux, Loan Market, MOTAT , The Blues, Burger King, Burger King NZ Breakers, Horse Riding Warkworth,  PMP Maxum, Smiles Inflatables, Steph Squires, Total Rentals, Walnut the Clown,, along with following local Mt Eden businesses: ASB, Amcal Eden Quarter Pharmacy, Capitol Cinemas, Clip ‘N Climb, Countdown, Guthrie Bowron, Planet Cycles, Smiths Sports Shoes, Subway, The Warehouse, Valentines and Video Ezy.
