Heron Park ablaze with colour at Kite & Family Fun Day!!

Upwards of two thousand people took advantage of the glorious weather on Sunday 4th March, to celebrate Children’s Day at our Kite and Family Fun Day in Heron Park Waterview.

The sky was ablaze with an amazing array of colourful & dramatic kites, including many supplied by kite enthusiast Perrin Melchior of Kiteworks. Thanks to the generous support of the Rotary Club of New Lynn, over 200 free kite kits were made available for children to assemble, decorate and fly!

The Rotary team were also kept extremely busy at their Sausage Sizzle stand, as there were many hungry people, thanks to all the activities on offer! Read more and view pictures here.

Mr Ivan Smart, winner of the ‘most impressive kite flying’ prize, with Lucy Lawless (MC) and Ashley Goodwin (co-founder of Community Spirit).

Community Spirit Magazine – Read it Online

Our magazine aims to inform, inspire and educate our readers to improve the quality of life for themselves, their family and the community. They include advice on Nutrition, Parenting, Health and Fitness and also bring awareness to the many wonderful people and organisations that are working in our community, but lack profile.

Since April 2010, we have published seven editions of the magazine. They are all available for you to read – simply click on the links for each Edition in the Magazine section of this website.

About Community Spirit

The Goodwin Realty Group proudly launched the first edition of Community Spirit's Magazine and hosted Community Spirit's inaugural FREE Family Event in April 2010. With a passion to see their long-standing business successes deliver tangible value to its local community, the Goodwin Group was humbled by the support of Community Spirit's Principal Sponsor Partners in 2011: Telstra Clear, Genesis Energy, and Dulux.

On the 31st of October 2011, the Restoring & Developing Community Spirit Charitable Trust (2554518) was incorporated. The two Founding Patrons, chosen for their integrity, dedication to community service and connection with the greater Mt Albert community are Alice Wylie and Sir Arthur Harold Marshall, (KNZM, FRSNZ, FNZIA, FRAIA).

Communities are about connections, and through 'Community Spirit', it is hoped to mobilise local people to participate in and care for their local community, to re-ignite conversation, and to celebrate local successes.

Thank You & How to Get Involved

The Community Spirit Team thank you for your support during 2011. Our FREE local events highlighted the 'want' across our neighbourhoods to meet, connect, and enjoy time in our local parks! 4 new editions of our FREE magazine allowed our contributing writers to share ideas and to educate and inspire our readers. We particularly thank our sponsor partners and, look forward to developing our Programme into 2012.
